psl ❦ teito ❦ we're here to stay; we're here to stay
[It's been sheer chaos lately, and Hakuren is almost tired. Almost. Seventeen years as an Oak--even an estranged Oak--has left him with a lot of patience and a large reservoir of energy for dealing with tiring things. While the rest of the royal family and its various retainers had flown into chaos at the announcement of Teito's approaching coronation and not calmed down since, Hakuren had maintained the same even pace with which he approached everything. Still, it was hard to not be a little excited. The rebirth of the Raggs kingdom was an amazing thing to think about, and the fact that it was Teito... Hakuren smiled at that thought.]
[There was only a few more hours until the ceremony, but Hakuren was already out of things to do. He was already dressed and even more diligently groomed than usual, Ouka's ladies in waiting were currently descending upon her like a swarm of piranha in order to undress her, redress her, apply her makeup, and style her hair, and his other duties had slowed to a crawl, seeing as he was only a tutor. Faced with a lack of anything else to occupy his attention, Hakuren instead approached the apartment that had been designated Teito's while the Raggs castle was being restored. He let himself in to the sitting room, certain that Teito and his army of newly assigned valets (all of them Celestines, Hakuren was sure) would be too busy to answer the door, then approached and knocked on the dressing room door.]
Teito. [Your friend his here, your majesty.]

Teito. [Your friend his here, your majesty.]

Teito flung the door open, looked from one side to another to make sure that no one but Hakuren was around, and promptly dragged him in by the sleeve to close the door again.]
Hakuren -- do I have this on right? [That wasn't panic in Teito's voice and he definitely hadn't been hanging around Oaks or Celestines too much. It was completely justified worry over whether or not his clothing was buckled up right the back.]
Everyone else went to make sure the dining hall was all right--

If it weren't the Oaks would be in search of new servants. [Being able to offer their staff to dress the new King of Raggs was quite the honor for the Oaks, both as a family of the Barsburg nobility and as one of the Seven Houses of God. Not that the servants would be fired -- because they wouldn't mess something like this up -- but reminding Teito that he was panicking over nothing couldn't hurt. All the same, Hakuren looked him over and even made a show of tugging at some of the clasps and buckles just to reassure Teito.]
You look splendid, Teito. [And... taller. Was that the outfit, or did they put him in heeled boots? Hakuren carefully stepped past Teito and towards the rack of boots along the closet wall.] Where has Mikage gotten to?

At the question about Mikage, Teito abruptly stopped.]
He was... helping in the shower-- [And as if on cue, Mikage came out of the bathroom, feathers looking even more fluffy than usual given the thorough bath he'd been given. He had a tiny little bowtie in his mouth as he settled onto Hakuren's shoulder, a muffled Hakuhaku! coming out from the dragon's limited vocabulary.]
You're not dressed, Mikage?! [Augh... Teito was certain that wasn't good, even if Mikage wasn't exactly hard to dress. Keeping him dressed, though...]

[He abandons his search for new boots in order to take the bowtie out of Mikage's mouth and slip it around the little dragon's throat. He doesn't try to reassure Teito that 'dressing' Mikage won't take long. He'll focus on the slightly more pressing issue instead.] Take off your boots, Teito. They don't suit you at all.

Teito, meanwhile, sweeps his arms out to the side and stares down at his boots as though they, personally, had deeply betrayed him, pillaged his homeland and murdered his pets.]
They don't? But they make me-- [Taller, but he catches himself before he says that, a faint blush falling over his cheeks instead. He has to be a commanding, intimidating figure!! Not a shortie who can barely see waist-high to other people! ...It's possible he has something of a complex.]
